Looking to take up a hobby or meet new people this autumn? What better way to brighten up the darker evenings and make great friends than through music?
We are Galway’s largest community choral group, and are currently seeking new members to join them for the coming season. Male singers are particularly welcome!
You don’t have to be able to read music- if you have a real love of singing, and have a couple of free hours on a Sunday evening, then we would like to hear from you.
We have planned an exciting programme of sacred and secular choral works for the coming year and hope to undertake a short European tour in June 2012. A highlight will be a performance of the Dvorak Mass in D Major in St. Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, and a concert of Christmas carols and well-known choral favourites in early December 2011.
Under our Musical Director, Norman Duffy, we rehearse every Sunday evening in St. Patrick’s Band Hall, beside Ceannt Railway Station, from 7.30pm. The first rehearsal of the new season is on Sunday 4th September.
Interested people are invited to attend choir rehearsals during the first three weeks of term and are encouraged to participate fully for these three weeks before making a decision to join the Association.
We have a strong commitment to local charity and have donated over €10,000 in the last five years to local charities from concert revenues. Most recently, our chosen charity was the Irish Kidney Association which received a donation of €1,000 from our summer concert.
